Druid PvP Guide

In World of Warcfraft a druid that is well played is undoubtedly one of the most difficult classes to kill. The druid’s combination of capabilities is definitely so potent it can kill anyone and can provide protection to you from the ones that you cannot wait long enough to survive while waiting for help to get there. This is specifically the reason why a druid is most successful in arena teams. This Druid PvP Guide takes a look at what makes a Druid such a valuable PvP asset.

Druid PvP Guide: What makes a Druid so good?

The druids are so good due to the fact that they have the capability to shape shift. They are able to change forms instantly allowing them to easily escape out of snares and roots, while they are kept immune to spells like polymorph. You will be able to tell the difference between a poor and good druid by their mastery of this important capability.

A poor druid lets his spec dictate his capabilities.

For instance, a bad feral spec druid limits the capabilities they use to the skills that are valuable to that specific spec. So they will be doing everything that they are able to do in bear or cat form in order to avoid trouble and cause damage. If the druid added in caster form at this point it would give him the capability to swiftly cyclone, heal, or even root a target making things much easier. If the druid does not limit himself to the feral forms he greatly increases his arsenal. Although it remains important for a feral druid to be in one of his forms when the time comes to kill, the remaining two specs aren’t so clear cut.

It is better for resto and balance druids to stay in caster form in the majority of cases. By being in a specialized form there are certain stats and capability bonuses, but these certain forms in fact limit you from being able to make split second shifts that could save your life.

Druid PvP Guide:  Form Management

Being in Tree Form improves your heals potency, but limits you to resto capabilities while lowering your movement. This may not appear to be a great issue, but in PvP mobility is everything. The majority of classes try everything in their power so you remain glued to one specific area or slowed. By being in Tree Form you are practically giving yourself to them. If you are under the impression that healing will be necessary at the time AND you are sure you won’t have to move quickly, then being in tree form may be your best option.

It is a bit different for Boomkin since being in moonkin form provides a definite benefit. The combination of improved armor and an increased critical chance make it tempting enough without adding in the reduced stun damage and mana regen on attacks that are critical.

The reasoning behind recommending the caster form is it simply gives you a faster capability to heal. Essentially you are a DPS spec, with  the capability to heal when it is needed, so limiting yourself to one thing limits your capability. This reasoning is doubled when you take into consideration that your gear needs are practically the same as that of a healer even though your spec is not.

There are many other suggestions that make a druid good, but clutch shape shifting is a skill that definitely allows them to stand out. If you are able to master the capability to take on the correct form at the correct time, it will be easy for you to find yourself into the ranks of the elite.
